Feeding Time

A mother bird feeding the baby bird some seed from her mouth. At first glance, I didn't catch it, did you? Who is feeding whom in the photo? This outstanding contribution photo from swc capture a mother bird feeding her young. If you have not looked closely, baby birds open their mouths to be fed. The smaller of the two birds is feeding the larger of the two birds. The mother bird is the smaller of the pair. The two birds obviously are not the same and I would have to speculate that another bird laid it's eggs in this mothers nest perhaps?

This Is Bear Country

a black bear strolls into a backyard in northern Minnesota I had a customer, a few weeks ago, that I was giving some technical support. He had taken some photos earlier in the morning of a black bear and it's baby cub. He asked if I wanted to see them, I couldn't pass them up. I know he was about two hours north of the Twin Cities where one could find a bear in their backyard. Finding one in the Twin Cities area can only be found in a zoo.

Something Different For Today

close up macro shot of a cat I was taking a few macro shots with my camera over the weekend and really like how this one turned out. I'm making this a short post today as I'm feeling a bit under the weather. I thought it was my spring time allergies, but I believe I actually have a cold.

This Cat's On A Hot Tin Roof

I didn't take too many Christmas themed photos this year. I was rather busy this last month of 2007. I do have one final Christmas photo to post. When we were putting lights on the Christmas tree, my cat named Ruby, felt he could use the heat of the lights to warm himself. I had plugged the lights into the socket to test them out, set them on the floor and left the room for about a minute. When I returned, the lights had a new occupancy. I even had move the cat off of the lights, but he insisted on using the lights to keep warm. I did see it as a goof photo opportunity, grabbed the camera and here is the result.

Two days left until we close the year 2007. Scary eh?

Lazy Sunday Afternoon

On August 1st, the City Daily Photo community had a typical breakfast theme day. I elected to post a photo of one of my cats drinking coffee out of my cup. Today I'm expanding on that theme and showing a typical lazy Sunday, again of my cat. Being as today is Sunday, it's very appropriate to show a follow up photo isn't it?

What Is This?

About a month ago, I would walk into my back yard and pick up handfuls of fallen leaves [see photo]. These were not dried leaves like you see in the fall, but healthy green leaves that were full in size and green as could be. Was my tree diseased? Was this a strange growing season? Why do I have to pick up piles of leaves every day? It was getting annoying to say the least.

The day I took these photos, I figured out what was going on. I was sitting on my back porch reading a book. I heard a very faint sound of rain falling. Just a few sprinkles, but then I heard some squirrels running around in my big Silver Oak tree. So I stop reading and look at the squirrel, then I realized there was FIVE squirrels. They were baby squirrels and they were all heading into the big pile of leaves that had collected in the "Y" of the branches. Silly me, it was a squirrel nest. I had never seen one before. I assure you, I saw five of them little buggers run into there. I waited and waited for one to pop his head out to get a shot of it, but no such luck. The rain started coming down heavy at this point and I had to head back indoors. A few days later, the nest fell from the tree and the squirrels are gone.
