Reflections
In between the rain showers, I managed to snap a few shots at a Cottage Grove pond. I don't believe this body of water qualifies as a lake.

Lines And Angles
This reflection caught my eye. It is located in just north of downtown Minneapolis, along Interstate 35W.

Theme Day: Glass
Theme Day for the first day of March is simply: glassThe photo I've chosen was taken in St Louis during my recent trip there in the summer of 2008. The building in the reflection is the Historic Old Court House building that sits directly across from the Gateway Arch.
Stop by the other Daily Photo Blogs participating in the 'glass' theme to see how they interpreted the theme at the theme day photo portal.

Where Am I?
I know I was in downtown Minneapolis when I took this photo. I believe I was on Washington Avenue, or somewhere close to there. I can't name the buildings in the reflection though.

The Still Of The Night
The air was very calm as I drove over the Wakota Bridge yesterday evening. The bridge cross the Mississippi River from Inver Grove Heights into Newport. The plant you see in the distance is the Ashland Oil Refinery. I've been wanting to take this shot for quite some time now. The factory has a ton of lights, in the cooler months it throws steam everywhere. These long streams of lights on the river, I see from time to time. I had to turn around and find a location to shoot from. I was a bit under dressed for the sub freezing temps, so I didn't venture to far from where I parked. I am curious how the area will photograph once the river freeze over and there is snow illuminating the banks of the Mississippi River.

The Ends Of The Earth
This is one of those shots I should really flip over so the tree is upright and see if anyone figures out the photo is upside down. Since starting this photo blog, I never look at puddles the same. It's amazing what kind of photo one can get looking into a puddle about the size of a cowboy hat.

Three Panels
Another reflective gem of the AmHoist building. Does the slogan 'More bars in more places' come to mind?

Playing With Fishy
One of the ponds in the Conservatory at Como Park. Where there is water, you'll often find kids playing in it. Today was no exception.

In The Corner
On October 1, the City Daily Photo community held a theme day of 'lines', my original photo was to be today's reflective photo. This is one of my favorite buildings in downtown St Paul because of all of the angles and corners it has. I swear, on the days I get downtown to photograph it, it almost always seams to have a cloudy white sky and never a blue sky. One of these days, I'll get down there on the right day.

I Stopped And Paused
I was walking on the second or third floor of the Landmark Center in downtown St Paul when I passed this stairwell. It was an unexpected location for a reflection photo.

Reflections In The Round
This neat build was rather fun to take photos of. It's located in downtown St Paul just off of St Peter Street, behind the Landmark Center. You can see some of the reflection of the Landmark Center in the glass.

Storm Reflection
My son took the first photo of the evening, his vision he saw after a thunderstorm had passed through the Twin Cities. I saw a puddle in the street and snapped a reflection photo of the enormous cloud.

Boundary Waters
I wanted to answer Dusty Lens of the North Metro Minneapolis Photo Blog, his question was what lakes do we travel to. We usually enter the BWCAW around the city of Ely. The access lake we enter is Snowbank, then into Disappointment Lake. Once through these two lakes, which are the longest two lakes we have to paddle, the rest are fairly small. Adventure, Jitterbug, Cantyman, Asaub, Jordan, and we either end up on Ima or Alworth Lake. We like to make a base camp and then take day trips from there. We like to stay on Ima to fish for Lake Trout, plus we caught some Northern Pike in the range of 40-43 inches on this lake in the past. It's lowest point is 140 feet and typically has a 40 foot average depth about 20 feet from shore.

I See Skies Of Blue, Clouds Of White
From my 2008 BWCA trip that I just returned from. This one I sort of need to explain the shot. I'm sitting on a rock, a very large rock. I'm about 10 feet above the water level from the lake in the background. There was a small pool of water that I took this shot into. It may look a bit strange, but there is a large lake behind the rock near the top portion. In reality, the rock is only about an inch in height, it just looks large in the photo.

Twice As Nice
Tomorrow is my Theme Day photo in the Daily Photo Community. Water is the theme for the month of April. While this is not my selection for tomorrow's theme, this would be my second choice. I went out a little over a week ago with this shot in mind to use for the theme day. I found the location I wanted and I'm very happy with the results of the photo. I used a photo technique that Chris from Minneapolis Daily Photo often used in his shots. So if this is my second choice for the theme day of 'Water', what is my first choice? Well, you'll have to stop back tomorrow and find out. It was a bit more of a challenging photo to take than today's photo is.

Kicked To The Curb
Believe it or not, I took this photo from the bottom of my driveway. This was a day after last weeks snow storm rolled through the Twin Cities. The streets were very clear by that time with plenty of melting of the snow. What stands out to me is the amount of sand one can see at this low angle. But it's vital for driving on icy roads during the colder winter months.
