Britt's Pub

Opened in 1990, started out in a very small portion of downtown Minneapolis, but has now grow to be a very popular establishment. Yes, a British accent can be heard in the building from a few of the workers and guests.

Steve's Newport Drive-In

Though it has been closed for quite some time now, at least three years. It was known for it's great burgers and rootbeer floats. I believe it was once an A&W Rootbeer stand before it turned into Steve's Newport Drive-In. The drive-in became a casualty of the Highway 61 road construction that eliminated the stop light and nearly all of it's passer by traffic.

Happy 15th Anniversary To My Wife

I wanted to use today's photo, March 26, 2009 to do a bit of bragging and to encourage all of the new couples out there. Today, my wife and I celebrate our 15th year of marriage. I'm bragging because 15 years is starting to get up there in numbers. It's getting to the point where I'm forced to do some math to figure out how many years it's actually been. Next year I will need four hands to count the number of fingers for each year of marriage. This is the last year one can use three hands. I'm encouraging because in this day and age, we are proof that it does work if you make it work. It certainly has not been easy, we've had to work hard with our relationship. More at the beginning years than the latter, but it will pay off in th end.

I should mention, the building in the photo was the location of our Groom's dinner. It was called Willie's Hidden Harbor and is located on the Mississippi River in Saint Paul Park. I believe it has gone through an owner ship change as the sign on the building was not what I was expecting to see.

So my dear, Happy 15th Anniversary. Thank you for being there for me, with me and all of that mushy stuff. You are the greatest.

Ma Ma's Pizza

Ma Ma's Pizza on Rice Street and Front Street in St Paul I recall the side of this building being white with a painting of the Italian gondola painted on the wall. Instead, today I see the brick a dark red with a metal cutout of a gondola painted in black with gold trim. The place looks like it's had a recent face lift, but the Ma Ma's Pizza sign still looks like the original sign that I can remember. Is the food good at Ma Ma's Pizza on Rice Street in St Paul? I have no memories of eating there, but as close as it was to my grandma's house, I had to have eaten food from there at least once as a young boy.

Fogo De Chao

Located on the corner of 7th Street and Hennepin Avenue in downtown Minneapolis is a great Brazilian Steakhouse. It's basically an all you can eat steakhouse that offers about 20 or so different cuts of meat prepared in various ways. We've been here a couple of times and have enjoyed the atmosphere and the food each time. The Gaucho chefs walk around from table to table with meat on skewers. If you want to try the particular cut of beef on the skewer, you say yes, or no if you want to try something else. It's a rather unique way of serving an all you can eat type of restaurant. They walk around with the food and you never really have to leave your seat. A tad on the spendy side at $40-43 a plate if you're on a budget, but I highly recommended Fogo De Chao if you're looking to try something new.

McDonalds Playland In West St Paul

Artwork mural from the old McDonalds play land in West St Paul. I made a quick stop at the McDonalds in West St Paul, a place I used to visit when I was younger. Often my mom and dad would take me to the playland here. It was just a simple playground with McDonalds characters as parts of the rides. The best part of it was the tram that would take you from the bottom of the hill to the top of the hill where the playground was located. Looking back at what they used to do for the kids was amazing. No one today would ever do anything like this at a fast food restaurant. All that remains in the path up the hill, which is located near the current drive through road, plus the artwork on the cement wall.

Place To Eat In St Paul

For as long as I can remember, Savoy Inn has stood in this location on Seventh Street and the end of the Lafayette Bridge in St Paul. I've heard so many good things about this place, they must be doing something right because they are still there year after year. Yet, I have never paid a visit to this restaurant. The longer I post photos of the Twin Cities, the more I realize there are many things I have not tried, been to, stopped at, in my very own neighborhood.

Painted Bricks Or Natural Color

I made a visit through St Paul's East Side Neighborhood and drove past this building that caught my eye. The building has been refurbished in someway, but I'm curious if the red brick is painted or is that the natural color of it? Despite the sign that reads 'The Strip Club' I can assure you, this is a restaurant that a friend of mine has suggested to eat at. I will stop in there soon, but today's stop was only for a quick photo and to find the exact location.

Does This Need A Crafty Post Title

I've seen funny foreign restaurant names posted around the internet before that were suggestive or a close to a dirty word, but never did I ever expect to see one around the Twin Cities. I hope some of you find the humor in the photo as I did when taking it.

Look, A Moose

I have seen a moose in person before when I was in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area in Norther Minnesota, but this is as close as you'll be when you'll come to seeing a moose in the Twin Cities area. This moose can be found on Highway 13 and 35E in Mendota Heights.

FYI: I've had two nights of issues in a row while trying to post. Things were not cooperating for various reasons.
