Looking Through The Bars
The decorative fencing, which separates the east bound traffic from the west gives a unique view of south bound 7th Street. I took this one while I was stopped for a red light on 7th Street and Wabasha in downtown St Paul. The fencing also doubles as crowd control while people in the Xcel Energy Center leave the building. The fencing forces those walking to their vehicles to cross at the street corners.

Double Rainbow Reflection
Captured on Highway 61 in Cottage Grove shortly after a storm passed through. I was glad the road co-operated enough to get the reflection on the road. If you look close enough, you can see two rainbows with a slight reflection for the second. Or at least that's how I see it.

Capture Of The Moment
Got this one driving home yesterday from work. It was about an hour before sun set, a storm was passing through, I was waiting for the red arrow to turn green to make my way onto 35E. This was actually a bit of a challenge as my windshield wipers was in motion. I had to take the photo just after the blade passed my view. I can't see a drop of rain in the photo, but trust me, it was raining lightly when I snapped the shutter. I really like the reflection from the signal light, but what really stands out is the color of the road almost matches the sky perfectly.

East On University Avenue
The view is to the east, traveling on University Avenue in St Paul. I cannot give you a cross street reference, but I am about one mile west from the State Capital building. If you look closely it there, way down the road you can just make out the dome of the building.

Now That's What I Call Green
Normally shooting photos directly in the direction of the sun is not a good thing. For this shot however, not sure why or how it happened, but the green is extremely brilliant in this photo. Perhaps the sun is reflecting off of the leafy greens, I just don't know. The location for this shot I will be returning to at night. I can envision some great nighttime photos from this higher vantage point. For those of you familiar with St Paul, this intersection is Highway 61 from left to right in the photo. The street making an upside down 'T' would be the beginning of Sheppard Road as you head into downtown from the East Side of St Paul.

10 Foot Parking Zone
While sitting at a stop light on my way to work, I pulled along side this bus. Having my camera by my side, I snapped a quick shot, the light turned green and continued on my journey.

We Take Parking Seriously
I've always gotten a laugh out of the meter parking enforcement laws in St Paul. I took this photo along Kellogg Avenue in downtown. My car was the only vehicle that was parked along side the road on a Saturday afternoon. Do they really enforce the metered parking on a street that doesn't need to be enforced on a Saturday?

Another Day, Another Hill Top Photo
From the same street location as yesterday's photo. This one take a couple days later just as a passing rain shower had pass through. I took this one a bit further back on the newly paved section of the road as it gave a great reflective shot. You can see the same tree from yesterday's view at the end of the visible part of the road.

On The Straight And Narrow
My normal exit I would take to get to my home was closed for about five weeks for some road construction. This brought about a bit of a delay while taking the detour. It did however bring me to different parts of Cottage Grove and a few new ideas for photos. I'd been taking this road for a couple weeks, the sun sets a bit later each day as the fall season approaches. I hit this day a bit later than normal and the sun was just at the right spot, I thought with the sun behind the trees, it could make for a nice photo. I'm happy with the results.I must say, there is a glimpse of the view from the top of the hill in this photo. There is a lot to see, but it's very tough to get a clear visible shot. I'm going to take a few photos from the top of the hill one of these days, but I honestly believe for a grand view, I'd have to do a little bit of trespassing to get the shot I want. There is farm land on one side and homes on the other, not leaving much for photographers.

A Perfect Circle
TCT CO is what is printed on the manhole cover. Not 100% sure what TCT stands for, I would guess Twin Cities Transportation Company. I just don't know exactly what it stands for. I found this cover in a very old part of downtown St Paul near the farmers market that does not see very much traffic. It is located as you enter a parking area with some of it paved over with black top, which is partly visible in this photo. I do wish there would have been a date stamp of some sort to give me a time period to research back to. Google searching found nothing, perhaps the search term I used was not bringing me the answers I was looking for.

More Streaking Fun
In yesterday's photo, I mentioned the stop light had just turned green as I took the photo, a few seconds later, I took another one as the cars passed by. It's quite a different take on the same view. The streaks of head lights, some odd streaks from reflections perhaps, the lit up street, the shadow from the rock on the sidewalk. A lot of small differences on a calm night on Highway 61Labels: hastings, night, street

As You Enter Hastings
While I was standing on the bridge in Hastings that overlooks the downtown area, I mentioned I was standing about two feet of sidewalk and behind me was Highway 61. I snapped a quick shot of the road using the railing as my tripod. The camera is looking south for this one at the incoming traffic, the stoplight had just turned green in the distance.Labels: hastings, night, street

He's Going The Distance
Can you see it? Way, way, way off in the distance....it is there....you may have to click the photo to make it larger, but it is there. See it now? Right there in the center? It's downtown Minneapolis and I'm headed north on Nicollet Avenue.
