Butterfly Ceiling

I made a visit to one of the community centers in Cottage Grove and made this butterfly discovery in the lobby. It certainly was a fun idea for the ceiling.

Inside the old Minnesota World Trade Center Building, you'll find a wonderful water fall that was featured here a week ago. Directly above the fountain, you'll find a window to the sky.

Guess Where I Am Today - Part 2

As I am quite tired from a day of traveling, I'm leaving you with a different view of yesterday's ceiling for you to guess where I am at. While it is a tad out of focus, the outside of this St Paul building has been featured here on the Twin Cities Daily Photo on a number of occasions.

I do believe I accidentally took this photo. The strange angle is a dead give away. I do however, like the blue sky with the lights, made for an interesting shot. Have you ever taken a photo by accident and liked the results of it?

At the Mall Of America in Bloomington, this is the ceiling you'd see if you looked up outside the anchor store of Macy's. It would also be the southwest corner of the complex.

"X" Marks The Spot

I've been sitting on this photo since this past Christmas time. I had taken it one evening while I was doing some shopping and while I was listening to Classic Brass Inc perform a concert at the Mall Of America. I had taken this photo of the ceiling which I believe was the area they had performed in. Since I've started this city photo blog, I've been looking and taking different photos that I would normally never take. Ceilings have been a new interest of mine as they are unique from building to building.

With that said, there is a new city blog in the Twin Cities here, "Just Roaming The Twin Cities" is the name of it. On the sidebar they had a guessing game named, 'can you guess where this roof is'? Wouldn't you know it, today's photo was the exact same roof they had for me to guess. I knew it the instant I saw it on the site. I just found it funny I had taken a photo of it a few months prior to this week.

There is a new photo of a different ceiling on the Just Roaming The Twin Cities site. I've made my guess of the Como Park Conservatory. I don't have a photo to post to compare it, but to the best of what I can recall, I am correct, though I have not been there in ten plus years. We shall see in the coming days.

Lights, Camera, Blog!

As I sat in my seat at Williams Arena watching the Minnesota Gopher mens basketball team play against Michigan State, I pointed the camera up to the ceiling and snapped a couple of photos. I really was after the structure of the ceiling and all the engineering that went into the making of "The Barn" as it's more commonly known as. The result of the game was a loss for the Gophers. However, since Tubby Smith has become the new head coach, this team is competitive, they are fun to watch, they are darn entertaining and I'm anxious to see what a couple of years will do to the team after Tubby has a couple years of recruits.
