Just Outside My Window

We stayed two nights at a hotel on 7th Street in downtown St Paul last winter because we were attending a Minnesota Wild hockey game. That's not something we normally do since we live only 22 minutes away from the stadium. What a fun experience and highly recommended if you've never done that before. When we were in our hotel room, we were treated with this amazing view of the State Capital building.

Walking Path

This was taken earlier in the spring, but the path leads up the the Minnesota State Capital Building. You can just make out the top portion. I would bet, if I were to take the same shot today, the dome would not be visible.

Tall Statue

I've posted a photo a few years ago of the really tall statue that overlooks the capital building and downtown St Paul. Tomorrow, I pay a visit and finally find out who the statue is. My guess was, it was a first settler to the area. I was close, very close, but not quite correct. Find out tomorrow June 2nd June 3rd who this is.

Messy Shot

It can be a challenge to photograph the Minnesota State Capital building. This is a perfect example of what I mean. Look at all of the poles, signs, lights and everything else in between.

Long View

If you look again at my Friday post, you can see the Minnesota map just in front of the flower bed. I've always enjoyed this view of the Capital building. It's one of the few long views of the building where there isn't something in the way. Although, if you count the trees....

St Paul Capital Building

So, here is a snapshot of the Capital building of Minnesota. I feel like it's been forever since I've posted, but I had been out of town for a couple of days and neglected the blog. So, here is a snapshot of the Capital building of Minnesota.

Budget Shortfall

Sounds like the majority of states now have a budget shortfall. This is where the elected body will attempt to fix our woes. Sounds like the majority of states now have a budget shortfall. This is where the elected body will attempt to fix our woes.

East On University Avenue

Traveling on University Avenue in St Paul about one mile from the State Capital building The view is to the east, traveling on University Avenue in St Paul. I cannot give you a cross street reference, but I am about one mile west from the State Capital building. If you look closely it there, way down the road you can just make out the dome of the building.

Capital Building From A Distance

Lid Transplant

The recently transplanted dome from the State Capital building was finally put in place at it's new home over the weekend. This successful transplant was performed by a local constructions company....

Okay wait a second, that might be stretching the truth a bit. Honestly, I wasn't expecting to see the top of the State Capital building in St Paul from where I was standing for this shot. There it was and I'll take it.

Now that spring has arrived, I've been trying to get more color into the photos I'm posting. When I've had to get my color photo fix over the winter I often visited Isabella's Daily Photo site down in Naples, Florida. The colors in nearly all of her photos can only be found in the Twin Cities for about three weeks out of the year before the cold, snow and winter return.
