Ghost Ad Mystery

It's a great example of an unknown ghost ad. Well beyond identification, unless you know what this said back when it was new.

New Balcony's, Old Advertisements

I always love photographing Ghost Ads, but this one is different from most of them. Unsure which business this used to be, but it appears to be an apartment building now since the balcony's are right iin the middle of the old advertisement that used to be here.

Old Commerce Build

The Commerce Building always stands out to me. It's probably because it's on the edge of downtown St Paul and is quite visible from the street.

Ghost Ads, Hastings

There is definitely an advertisement there on the wall, what it says is beyond what I can figure out. I cannot even make out a few letters, but there is something there....right?

Lowery Building

Very tough to read, but the top of the faded brick building reads 'LOWERY BUILDING'. Personally, I like the contrast between the two buildings. Very tough to read, but the top of the faded brick building reads 'LOWERY BUILDING'. Personally, I like the contrast between the two buildings.

Schmidt Beer On The West Side

On the corner of Wabasha Street and Isable Street in St Paul's West Side neighborhood, you can find this ghost advertisement of the Schmidt Beer logo. The building looks as it has been recently painted, thankfully they left the logo intact.

If you look really close at the faded logo, you can somewhat make out yet another Schmidt Beer advertisement logo in the same corner of the building. It's very tough to read it, but in the red portion of the logo, you can make out the letters 'hmid'.

Ghost Ads - Zenith

One more ghost ad contribution from swc for the week. This one is that I recall growing up to be quite prominent in the electronic industry. Then again, at the age I was, perhaps their best days were long gone.

Ghost Ad Mystery Revealed

The beer brand on the sun faded advertisement was Milwaukee brewed, Blatz Beer. After doing some digging using Google, I found a key advertisement from a 1942 magazine article about Blatz Beer. Following up on my June 15th post featuring a 'ghost ad' painted on a brick wall in St Paul....my dad had figured out that the beer brand on the sun faded advertisement was Milwaukee brewed, Blatz Beer. After doing some digging using Google, I found a key reference photo from a 1942 magazine article about Blatz Beer. The ad is about a pilsener beer flavor with the slogan 'For Good Taste' with a trapezoid shape around the word 'Blatz'. Looking at the additional photos I found, I can confirm the ghost ad is for Blatz beer. The trapezoid shape in the magazine ad matches the ghost ad, plus the word 'TASTE' is very clear to see from their slogan.

Ghost Ads Guessing Game

I'm sure I'm not alone with these older forms of advertisement and the intrigue they bring. I'm fascinated that they would use the side of a brick building to display their message, but I do suppose the lack of nicely placed flat billboards in town were a few years in the making. So we are left with the guessing game of what product were they advertising.>

There is no doubt, it's a beer advertisement. Pilsener beer of some sort with the word 'Great' in the slogan. Since I know it's local Hamm's Beer comes to mind, but it doesn't fit what I recall about their advertising. So I'm stumped as to what the advertisement was. Any ideas on this ghost advertisement one?
