Wakota Bridge Progress

progress of the wakota bride crossing the mississippi river After too long of a delay over funding, the Wakota Bridge replacement project is back in full action. While originally scheduled to complete in 2007, the south bridge is scheduled for completion in the year 2010. Yeah, that's a very long delay don't you think for road construction? The big square is where the foundation will be formed. If you look closely, you can see the other side where the bridge will connect.

Slinger, Driving over this bridge going east makes me ill especially when I'm driving the semi, it seems like the edge is so close and I always have to exit on 61 so the right lane is necessary. I for one can't Waite for phase two to be complete. Nice job with the photo, was the crane on the barge out in the middle of the river yet? and did you get any photos of that?

The crane on the barge was only about 40 feet from the shore. What is done so far is so much better than the way it was, but yeah, it can be a bit scary at times crossing the river during rush hour.
