I was trying out some of the new settings in my photo editing software, Picasa. One of the new image processing ideas, gives the blooming fields of purple, quite a different look and feel.
My wife told me that lily's are one of her favorite flowers, so this one is for you dear.
It was close to 70 degrees again yesterday, but not quite. We should hit the 70 degree mark today for the first time this year. An early spring perhaps?
This lily stands at 5 feet, 6 inches tall, which is a few inches shorter than I am. I've never seen one at this height before, so the size is surprising.
We planted these flowers in our garden this spring and threw away the card that tells us what type they are. Can you identify these for me?

I took this photo on September 19 while walking on 7th Street in St Paul. I revisit the area on October 30th and all of the plants are now gone. Which makes sense as winter is around the corner....sigh
More from the MN State Fair....from the Horticulture building, every year they have flower contest for several different flowers. These are the Gladiolus contest, I believe they are judged on their looks, purity, hybrids, but it always appears to be just one stem of the flower for the judgement. There are other contest, like ones that involve props, plus different flowers all together.
I found this small grouping of mushrooms growing in the woods. Their height was about an inch high. Very small, but very brightly orange colored. I'd never seen mushrooms like this before, so they were a surprise when I found them.
