Sauk Rapids Water Tower

The water tower in the city of Sauk Rapids. The water tower in the city of Sauk Rapids. It's quite a colorful tower, isn't it?

I need to get me a ton of wood pellets for $225 a ton! The crossroads in Elk River. And please, wait for the train....

Water Tower Blaine

When I look at the Blaine water tower, I see a mushroom cloud. Regardless, it's a funny design. When I look at the Blaine water tower, I see a mushroom cloud. Regardless, it's a funny design.

Ye Old Water Tower

Not sure what building this old water tower sits on, but it sits proudly on top of the roof. Wonder if it's still servicing the people inside?

Aim For The Water Tower

One of the water towers in Hastings right next to the high schools baseball field. Curious how many times the water tower has been hit with a home run ball?

Yet Another Rosemount Water Tower

A water tower in Rosemount, Minnesota. The second water tower I've posted from Rosemount this week. This one is along Highway 42.

Rosemount Water Tower

In the city of Rosemount, this road leads to one of their water towers. I captured this Rosemount water tower while I was heading east on Highway 42. The view is to the south. The water tower appears to be in the middle of a farmers crop field. Though I don't know what the road leads to once you get to the top of the hill. I do like this view, kind of different from the norm.

The Witches Tower

The 'witches tower' in prospect park or a really cool way to hide a water tower A quick shot from my car window as I wait for the red light to turn green. This odd looking tower, also called the 'Witches Hat' located in Prospect Park is actually a water tower. What you might not know is, this water tower was also designed as a bandstand. Constructed back in 1913, the bandstand, incidentally, only held one concert. Carrying musical instruments to the top of the sixty foot climb proved to be quite difficult for the musicians. I must admit, this is one really cool way to hide a water tower.

A Slice In The Sky

I'm not sure what I like the best in this photo. The sliver of the moon or the tiny reflection of the sun in the water tower.

Now This Is Actually One Building

Despite all of the sections you see in the photo, they all connect in some shape or manner. What a crazy engineered hodge podge of buildings that do not match what so ever. This is the Hastings Flour Mill that I have posted on back in January with a broader view. One thing I never noticed before was the faded red water tower. When did that get up there and why had I never noticed it before. I've visited the site many times, but there it was, something new to my eyes. I've always enjoyed seeing unique water towers and this was a delight to photograph.

If she weighs the same as a duck,... she's made of wood

I do hope some of you get today's title. I shot a close up of the Prospect Park Water Tower from yesterday's photo because simply it looks like a very large witches hat to me. Plus I love the texture of the roof and whatever it is made out of.

Maybe your monitor is better than mine, but this small photo makes the roof texture look awkward. Click the photo for a crisper and larger image.

A Quick Visit To Prospect Park

Last year back on August 28, 2006 I posted a distant sky shot of a tower that I'd always seen, but never was close enough to figure out what it was. A local blogger thought it was Prospect Park which it turns out to be correct. Another local blogger commented a few weeks later that it was a water tower to the neighborhood. Even looking at the tower today, it's hard to believe that it's holding gallons of water inside. The tower is close to the Minneapolis, St Paul border and just off of University Avenue. The tower is open to the public once or twice a year for observation and I'm told you can see quite a distance from up there.
