It's Still Snowing

Good times here in Minnesota. It won't stop snowing.

Snow Fest 2023

I believe we received 15.5" inches of snow in my city. It was enough to camouflage the mailbox. My work gave us a snow day and that was a great way to welcome in the new year.

Winter Scenery From My Door Step

I do post this shot quite often in the winter months. It's always a unique scene.

Winter Is Here

We've had a little bit of snow, but after this 8.5" inches of snow fell, I officially declare the season of winter has begun.

Queue the White Walkers....

Wintery Delight

The snow plows went by, the ground was fairly warm, so it cleared off really fast. It was such a site to see.

Yet Another Snow Storm

I was really making an effort to not post snow photos this season, but we've had so many snow storms and the scenic opportunities were plentiful. I couldn't pass them up. We are darn close to 17 inches of snow for the month of April. We lost power to my home last night and awoke to snow clung to all of the branches, wires, poles and anything that was outdoors was covered in white.

Morning Commute

Just your typical day in April in the Twin Cities. Okay, no it isn't. Our average high temp is 54 degrees, however, winter isn't ready to leave us. So be it. I'm just glad the majority of my drive into work looks like this. Hello to all of you heading north on 35E into St Paul. Never mind that yellow on the GPS, we were just driving slower than normal.

Back Side Of The Frosty Fence

The frost from the other day, very odd how long the ice had grown on the fence. Now walk to the other side of the fence and it was bare as could be.

Fuzzy Frost

I wanted to give you a close up of the 'Frozen Frost' photo I posted yesterday. While I didn't walk over to the trees, I did get a close up of the chain link fence. Look at how long the frost has become, it looks like animal fur. I wanted to give you a close up of the 'Frozen Frost' photo I posted yesterday. It's the craziest looking frost I've seen in quite a while. Have you ever seen frost like this before?

Frozen Treat

We woke up this Saturday morning to a frozen treat, courtesy of Mother Nature. Tomorrow I'll show you a shocking close up of this shot.

White Out

Since we have hardly had much snow this year, here is another from last winters snow storm that produced a lot of great photos.

For Those Of You Missing The Snow

Here in the Twin Cities, we've yet to have a snow fall of more than a couple of inches. In fact, I've only shoveled one time, and I didn't even break a sweat with my effort. In fact, I've only shoveled one time, and I didn't even break a sweat with my effort. It's really a strange winter for us. Even my kids were excited to see the snow the other day when it snowed just enough to make the ground white, but not enough to shovel. I also have yet to hear one complaint about the lack of snow. This is however, a far cry from last year, which gave us our second or third snowiest winter on record. Today's photo was from the top of my driveway looking at the large mounds of snow at the bottom of my driveway. Boy that was fun moving all that snow, not.

Red Bull - Crashed Ice 2012

Red Bull Crashed Ice? Yeah, I had never heard of it either until this year, but it looked to be quite the event here in St Paul. Four ice skaters at a time, race down hill on a dangerous track, the winner moves on until a champion is crowned. While I didn't make it down to the event, Justin so graciously braved the cold weather and provided a great close up action shot of the event. Thank you sir! St Paul was selected as the only North America city to host such event.

Hopeful

A good sign summer is almost here, I'm already starting to see the beach chairs out on our beaches, even though our lakes are still frozen. They put them out so you can watch the ice melt away on warm spring days. Skating Along

There was quite a few people skating at the outdoor ice rink which sits along side the Historic Landmark Center, downtown St Paul. The rink has been there for three or four years now, but I have never taken the time to skate here, only photograph it. Frosty Trees

I awoke yesterday morning to a great winter treat. During the middle of the night, a thick frost or fog rolled into my area and frosted the smaller tree branches, giving them a "fuzzy" look. It was quite a sight to see. I didn't snap as many photos as I would have liked as I was on my way into work. Lucky for me I took the photos when I did, as I made my way closer to work, the sun broke through the clouds and the frost disappeared.

Ice On A Stick

A nice ice formation collecting on a branch as the snow melted down.

Lava

Is it me, or does the frozen water over the waterfall look like it could be melting or dripping candle wax?

Purple Sky

The colors for this one turned out rather odd. The sun had set, maybe 20 minutes ago. Cloudy sky, street lights on and freshly fallen snow. Exposure was only 1.6 seconds, but the photo turned out very bright for how dark it was at the time. Gotta love snow brightening everything up like it does....
