Gorillaz

Maybe it's just me, but I cannot picture myself wearing a gorilla mask like this in the winter months. I'm sure it keeps you warm when it's -10F degrees, but no thank you. Could you picture yourself wearing something like this?

Overloaded Pallets

On my way to work the other day, midway through Newport and pull in behind the truck you see in the photo. It was driving a bit slower than the traffic was moving, but I was just about at my ramp to go from Highway 61 to Highway 494, so I slowed down and followed along behind the truck. I noticed the high stack of pallets, how could you miss them? Started looking it over a bit closer, there was straps keeping them in place and they were still attached, I was safe.

So we finally make it to the ramp, which takes a very long, long curve before connecting with 494. Let me tell you, what I saw next scared the bejesus out of me. Picture this stack of pallets, truck driving around a curve, now picture two of the wheels nearly leaving the ground! I swear the truck was going to tip over. There was three or four times, during the curve, the tipping of the truck, the lean of the pallets, I was nervous as one could be. The photo doesn't do it justice unfortunately. The truck did make it around the ramp and onto 494 and a straight path. That was when I decided I needed to take a photo for the blog.

Go On, You Can Have It

It's a free couch for the taking. I've gotta say, I've never seen a couch thrown up, high on a snow bank with a "free" sign attached to it before. It really stood out to me and thankfully I had my camera by my side.

Published Photo For Twin Cities Daily Photo

One of my co-workers, Todd Swank, aka ShortArmGuy, brought in a newspaper from the Glendale Cherry Creek Chronicle in Colorado. A friend of his had seen a photo of him in their newspaper, so he sent him a copy of it. Todd had no idea what photo it was, since he hadn't submitted anything to them before, nor heard of the newspaper. When he got a copy of it and looked at the articles, it turned out to be two photos that I had posted here on Twin Cities Daily Photo back in September of 2007. There was three of us posing after our Fantasy Football draft. Todd brought the newspaper in to show me, since it was one of my photos of him and myself posed in the photo. That's me in the red shirt, Todd is on the right, with another co-worker, Nick, in the center. The second page of the article has the other photo of mine, it's the one of several people gather around a bar during the nights draft.

This particular photo has gotten quite a lot of traction in the search engines for the past couple of years. It's currently number 7 in the Google Image search using the search term Fantasy Football. There is also photos of girls in bikini's if you don't want to see that, don't click the link. Being number 7 on the phrase Fantasy Football is really huge in the world of search engines. I'm sure it lead to my photo being published in the Glendale Cherry Creek Chronicle.

What Stands Out

There is a lot to look at in this contribution photo from swc. The unique gutters, more specifically the downspouts initially caught my eye, The new paint job on the building on the right and the faded version on the building on the left. Now, one thing I can't quite figure out is the blue door. Why is it painted blue, why is the door there, what is it used for and does it look a bit on the small side? Crazy capture.

Semi Flames

Just one of the many strange things I see during my daily travels. A semi truck with flames painted over the tire rims.

It's a temporary entrance, but a rather unique snaking tunnel into the emergency entrance of St Joseph's Hospital. It's a temporary entrance, but a rather unique snaking tunnel into the emergency entrance of St Joseph's Hospital.

What Is This Sticker?

I've seen this sticker, next to the '7th' in the highway sign, for the past couple of years. I've seen it in the strangest of places, including this sign, but mainly on cars. I for the life of me, do not know what it is a symbol for. For as many times as I've seen this symbol around town, it has to be very popular whatever it is and I'm not in the right age category to know why it is popular. Can you clear up the mystery on what it is?

More From The Roof

The view down my neighborhood from my rooftop. This fall, after the leaves drop, I need to return up here for a sunset photo or two. Currently there are too many leaves to see the sun set, but come winter, this may be a good location.

Roof Project - Day 3

Final day of the roof replacement project on my home. A big thank you goes out to my friends that helped me, I couldn't have done it without your help. Finally the end of the project is here. Very tiring work and I certainly wont be quitting my day job to do this kind of work. Very taxing on your body.

Roof Project - Day 2

We've completed day number two of the roof project. It's coming along very well so far. The front side of my home is completely shingled, the backside of my home, plus my porch will be finished up tomorrow afternoon. I'm dead tired, no surprise there.

Roof Project - Day 1

Today I'm posting a Today I'm posting a "before" photo of the roof of my home. It was in dire need of replacement. Sadly, the shingles are only 15 years old, but they were a "organic" shingle and didn't really last like they claimed. These shingles were on when I purchased my home, so it was out of my hands what was up there. Needless to say, the roof is being replace prematurely.

Today was all about demolition. I took the day off from work to remove the shingles, by myself. I'm sore, I ache, I am tired and my body hurts. I needed to have the shingles removed before all of my help arrives Saturday morning. Everything is coming along fairly well. I have the main part of the house completely removed. All that is left are the shingles on the porch, which is around 280 square feet.

Growth In The City

it was an unusual site to see this ivy plant growing on the top level of this parking garage in the heart of downtown Minneapolis. In reality, the spring growing season at the time time of this photo was about four weeks. Happy Valentines Day

I'm going to buck the trend of a traditional Valentines Day themed photo....why, because I have nothing heartsy, lovey dovey, snuggly, sweet, redish, rosy, teddy bearish, lingerish, daring, loverish, warming, sweet or even remotely tinglyish....except for this cutesy little crab I photographed while on vacation a few years back. Enjoy?

What Do You See?

Sitting down eating dinner with my family, I looked over my wife of 14 year's shoulder and I see to faces staring back at me. What's even odder about this unplanned photo is how the coffee cups are placed, match the photo of the two upside down coffee cups each one caries. Tell me you don't see a face in each of the cups?
