Theme Day: Street Lights And Street Signs

Septembers theme day in the City Daily Photo community are street lights and street signs. My photo is from Hastings overlooking downtown hastings. The rows of lights has always caught my eye when I've driven past it and today you get to see my view of the street lights.

Wow - usually when we're driving (thru Hastings) the streets are full. No open parking spots. Sure looks empty here...

Great photo. I love the painting on the side of the building too.

Great lights! I like the design of the street lamps. They look flames. Unique shape ;-)

Happy Theme Day too!

Beautiful! The lights, the moon, the façades, the mural, everything is just lovely.

looks like a well lit movie set.

Sally said what I was going to - there's wonderful, unreal quality to this.

The tones of the photo make it seem a bit surreal!

An interesting perspective. Are you on an elevated highway or an overpass? Do you work nights and that is why you drive through Hastings when there is little traffic ... I like the mural on the right.

Some of you mentioned the mural, I am standing on the bridge that you see in the mural. It passes over the road you see in the photo.

The bridge I'm standing on is very narrow with about a two foot wide sidewalk. I didn't feel too safe with the cars passing my so close. Plus I had a bit of a bridge shake and some of the photos had a blur to them as I has a timed exposure for this shot.

Hastings is a small town, so there is not much going on in downtown Hastings, thus the light traffic. However the bridge I'm on is part of the highway system and that was quite busy.

When the theme day was first announced, I knew exactly what I was going to take a photo of. It's been a very busy August and I hadn't made a trip down to this destination as of August 30. I was out with some co-workers picking a fantasy football team that evening. I took a different way home than normal and found myself exactly where I want to take this photo by accident.

Wow what a perfect picture and I'm amazed by the explanation -- I thought at first it might have been a movie set or even a model.

I did a 2.4 second shutter speed on this one.

Look closely, there are people in the photo.

Under the Meyer Co sign on the left of the street. There are two people walking. The two motorcycles on the right, there is a person on one of them starting up the cycle. Just to the right of the motor cycle, there are two people also there moving.
