As Ugly As This Looks

You'll be hard pressed to find any vulgarity spray painted on this overpass in Hastings. There are a couple if you look long enough. We took a hike along the Vermillion Falls over the weekend. One of the trails led us under a bridge with all of this graffiti and about seven rusty bikes. It's obviously where you dump a stolen bike when your finished riding it.

NOTE: I'm still having issues uploading to my hosting server that I've been troubleshooting all weekend long. It is currently taking me hours to upload one simple photo plus a daily text update. Hopefully I'll get this straightened out soon.

Turon in Poland blog has a graffiti example today too. Pretty common phenomenon, isn't it!

What's your problem with it making it seem like the people that all go there are criminals, I am a high school student who used to live in Hastings and still go back to Hastings to visit I know people who go down there to just hang out and play around (not committing any crimes) so next time you want to judge think about it first or at least ask some locals.

I am a high school student that used to live in Hastings and still go to visit often. That is a popular hangout spot for many teens to go to to joke around and hang out (most not doing anything illegal). So before you go and judge and paint these people to be all kind of bad people ask some questions to some locals. P.S. one of those bikes is one of my old ones someone borrowed and left there that I don't care to go get.

My name is on there along with lots of other art. As far as the bikes I know the owners of five of them, they are not stolen. As far as the sixth bike for all I know it is stolen which isn't surprising knowing first hand how many bikes are stolen in Hastings. But, that is a popular "hang-out" spot for many teens and most don't do illegal things. Hastings is a beautiful place with many great features although going through middle school and part of high school there I know how hard it is to resist many thing. I know all area's have there bad things especially in High schools and Middle schools but after living in multiple places in Minnesota and around the U.S. Hastings I think was the hardest. When going back to visit I often find out about one of my old friends being arrested, had one O.D., one get shot, a few in a local gang, and another dozen or so not there mentally because of drug use. Although Marijuana use is very common in the high school not all do it so don't make assumptions please. Back to the point that place is a spot for many to get away from the drugs, broken homes, or other things.
